Rumor has it that this weekend is going to be gorgeous and next week it might snow (!?). Take this weekend to go outside and enjoy the sun and crisp fall air. There is no better place to do this than Virginia wine country. Just an hour outside of DC, there are dozens of cute wineries to explore. Bring a picnic (don’t forget the cheese!), check out a couple of tastings, buy your favorite bottle of wine, sit outside, enjoy the beautiful view, gossip with friends or snuggle up to your date. This is a fool proof day. You will have an awesome time.
Last weekend I went to Purcellville, Virginia to check out a couple wineries. First up was Breaux Vineyards. Tastings run from $10-15. You can call ahead to make a reservation or just show up. They were very friendly and accommodating. The winery had lots of space for picnics, as well as some live acoustic music.
Our second stop was Hillsborough Vineyards. The quaint winery on a hill had outdoor seating overlooking the vineyard. Tastings start at $7. Our time at Hillsborough was a little rushed; I can’t wait to go back again.
